GameReplays' Second DoW2 Tournament Announced
The population cap bug has been finalized and game balance has been fine-tuned! Given the success and high level of enrollment for our previous tournament, this one will now be open to twice as many players! That's right, the bracket for GameReplays.org second Dawn of War 2 tournament will now be open to 128 registrations so it promises to be a brawl for galactic supremacy of unrivaled proportions. Please read all tournament rules thoroughly in order to ensure you are properly and completely informed as to how things will work. As per the registration format of our last tournament, registration information is going to be published at a later date so keep an eye on the Dawn of War 2 portal over the coming week and you can register for the tournament as soon as the registration information has been posted! Please note that any registrations received early will be discarded - do not try to jump the gun.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the tournament, please direct them to this thread or you can contact the tournament organizer directly via PM. Prizes: 1st./ $100 and a developer signed Dawn of War 2 poster! 2nd./ $30 and a developer signed Dawn of War 2 poster! 3rd./ Has a choice of: $20 or a developer signed Dawn of War 2 poster! 4th./ Get's whatever 3rd didn't take. Date and Time: The tournament will take place over two weekends starting on Saturday, May 9th at 5 P.M. GMT. The second round of matches will take place on Saturday, May 16th at 5 P.M. GMT. For information on the tournament format, see below. The tournament will consist of two distinct halves. The first will be a 128 player single-elimination tournament. Once the field has been narrowed to 16 competitors, the format will switch to double-elimination. These double elimination matches may be played on Saturday, May the 16th depending on how quickly we move through the brackets. Note: Matches are being played a week apart, rather than on consecutive days, to ensure that players from all around the world will have a fair chance to participate. Time-zone discrepancies mean some players would not be able to stay up as late as the tournament would require on a Sunday night (assuming they work or have school on Monday morning), and this scheduling is an attempt to accommodate all of our potential players. Registration: To register for this tournament you will need to send an email to an address that will be provided in a further newspost on our Dawn of War 2 main portal. The tournament is being announced now in order to raise awareness of the fact that it is coming up. Once the registration email address has been published then entries will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Bare in mind that the bracket only has room for 128 players so you'll have to be fast! Watch the Dawn of War 2 Portal Front Page to see the email address when when it is published. Note that any and all applications received prior to the registration newspost being published will not be accepted. Do not try to squeeze in an early registration: please wait for it to be announced. Information you will be required to provide in order to register will be the following: Current GameReplays.org forum name The Games For Windows - LIVE ID that you will use in the tournament Steam ID and current Steam Player Name The faction/race you will be play in the tournament Your Time Zone Ensure that all required information is provided in your registration email. If information is missing, I will not try to track you down: I will move on to the next properly completed entry and give them the spot, so ensure you COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION FULLY. Rules: Tournament Format: The tournament will consist of two distinct halves, separated across two days. The first day will be a 128 player, best-of-one, single-elimination tournament. Once the field has been narrowed to 16 competitors the day's matches will draw to a close, and be completed the following weekend. On the second day of the tournament, the format will switch to double-elimination for the remaining 16 players. Once only 4 players remain in the tournament (semi-finals) the matches will switch to best two-of-three format. Faction Choices: Your faction is locked once you register for the tournament. You will indicate your faction of choice to me when you register for the tournament. Once you have played your first match, you may not change your faction for the duration of the tournament. You may play any commander you wish and may change commander between games. You will be informed of your opponent's identity and faction choice just before your match is to be played. Replays: In order for your win to be counted officially, you must save your replay and post it in the GameReplays.org replay section. In order to more easily track uploaded replays, include the following line at the start of the title for every tournament replay you upload, followed by a clearly understood title: GR May 1v1 Tournament If you do not save the replays of your matches they will not be counted and you will be asked to play it again. This is very important! If you win, save the replay! Drops/Disconnects: If a player should - for whatever reason - drop or disconnect during a match, the result of the match may be arbitrated by tournament moderators pending review of the replay. It may be arbitrated as a loss for the dropping player or potentially a win if it is obvious they had an irrecoverable lead late into the game. It may also be asked that the match be replayed. If the opposing player volunteers in goodwill to replay the match, the match may be replayed. If your opponent drops: take a screenshot showing that they dropped from the match, then save the replay and get both to a tournament organizer immediately. Sportsmanship: You will respect your opponents, the tournament organizers and anyone else involved in the tournament at all times. Trash-talking and verbal abuse in game will not be tolerated and will result in a disqualification. If your opponent is being abusive during a match, again take a screenshot of the abusive language in chat. Do not stop playing the match. Play the entire match out and then bring the conduct of the offending player to the attention of a tournament moderator after the match. At the discretion of the tournament mod, the player may be disqualified if their behavior was inappropriate but please remember that this is for us to judge. Do not assume they will be disqualified: take a screen shot of the offense and then continue to play all matches fully. Any player being similarly offensive in any of the chat lobbies will also be disqualified from the tournament. Bans: At the present point in time, tournament organizers are aware of no "ban-worthy" glitches or bugs that exist in this game. As such, there are currently no bans stipulated for this tournament: anything goes. If you are aware of something that should be considered for a ban, please contact me via PM and I will look into the issue further. Rulings and Rule changes: The rules of the tournament are subject to change up until the day of the tournament itself. If an unforeseen circumstances arise during the tournament and a new ruling must be made, it will be made by a tournament moderator at that point in time. If you have an issue with something that happens during the tournament, you may address it to tournament moderators. Please note that the rulings of tournament moderators are final. Our decisions cannot be appealed and complaining persistently over a ruling may result in a disqualification and potential exclusion from future tournaments. Please understand we will do everything within our power to make our judgment calls as fair as possible but questioning our authority will not help your case or be tolerated and serves only to further delay the tournament. Match Organization: You are expected to be in chat and active at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time of your match. Any player more than 15 minutes late for a match will be handed an immediate loss which may result in your elimination. Tournaments take enough time to run as is and we will not sit around waiting for you. Additionally, do not play a match with your opponent until you have been instructed to do so by tournament organizers. Failure to comply means the outcome of your match may not be considered valid and you will be asked to replay it. Two Steam groups will be run for this tournament and you are expected to join both if you want to participate. One channel will be a general chat lobby for players in the tournament. Here you will be able to chat with other players in order to find matches, as well as to occupy/amuse yourselves in idle down-time between matches. There will be a second Steam Chat channel, which you are also required to be in, which will be for official tournament information only. If you have a direct question for the tournament mods, post it here. If we have important information on the tournament for you, this is where it will be posted. This is also where upcoming matches will be announced so keep an eye on it to know who you will be playing next. Do not clutter this channel with irrelevant chatter - repeated offenses will result in a disqualification.
